21393VIC CERTIFICATE II IN BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION [Carpentry]

Description: The Certificate II in Building and Construction [Carpentry] is a work entry program providing grounding in safety, basic skills and knowledge for work within the building and construction industry.  It is aimed at making students work ready to begin employment as an apprentice or equip them to continue onto further study. When students complete the full program they will receive dual credits - both for the two thirds of the Certificate II in Building and Construction [Carpentry] and VCAL units. Whether you are interested in a becoming carpenter or just want to learn about the building & construction industry then this option is for you.

Tasks/activities:
Tasks are designed as much as possible to give hands on experiences and simulate real workplace situations. The exercises cover safe work practices, using tools and specialist equipment, building structures, working with plans, workplace communications and job seeking skills. This subject involves both theoretical and practical elements that are assessed according to workplace standards. Students are also expected to complete a one day per week structured work placement.
